Chris Matyus formed Archetype with fellow bandmates Jamie Still and Keith Zeigler back in 1997. An experienced guitar player, sound engineer, producer and music instructor Chris’ songwriting is the heart of the band. Influenced by such bands as Coroner, Rush, Dream Theater, Savatage and all of the great classical composers, Chris’ unique guitar playing and songwriting is what gives Archetype it’s distinct sound.
Since the release of Dawning Chris has taken his songwriting in a slightly different direction: “Ever since we put out Dawning, I have taken my songwriting to a much heavier, more aggressive and a bit less progressive area but our sound is still very original.”
